The time to kick off a new transportation paradigm is now. Transportation is the master key to survival. We don't really depend on oil, we ALL depend on the transportation oil provides. If those of us in cities cannot grow enough food and collect enough water, food and water must be brought to us. This dependency has been exploited in countless sieges where city transportation supply was cut off. Without transportation we would be forced to return to an nomadic or agricultural existence, and most of us who have not developed caveman or farmer skills would soon perish.

Steam boats and trains displaced muscle powered transportation in the 19th century, this doubled the global standard of living because of major benefit/cost improvement (one downside was consumption of vast forests). Petroleum powered cars and jets displaced trains in the 20th century because of quantum improvement in transportation value, this again doubled the standard of living, but we are increasingly forced to pay deferred environmental and maintenance costs at a time when oil production is peaking.

The scope of this inaugural event is all aspects relating to implementation of Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT), a transportation technology that can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh than the most efficient electric car or train, and is faster than jets at at less than a tenth the total cost. ETT is literally "Space Travel on Earth" where more than 99.9 % of the friction and air resistance normally associated with transportation is eliminated. Some of the categories are: design, engineering, key technologies, materials, manufacture, planning, business, finance, and governance.
